Turner Marina and the Old Bayside Inn Restaurant were established by James and Evangeline Turner in the early 1940s. Turner Marina was one of the first, if not the very first, African American Marina operations in Annapolis, the United States and Internationally.  James and Evangeline Turner had a dream to create a local place for family, friends and new comers to gather to enjoy, good food, laughter and serious discussions on how to strengthen the Maritime Industry. The local full-time Watermen supported their families by catching crabs, fish and the harvesting of oysters and clams. Many were very talented boat builders too!
